An antique Prattware cottage money box, circa 1820

£125.00

An antique Prattware money box modelled as a little blue and yellow ochre cottage, circa 1820. The charmingly naive cottage is flanked by two figures and there are faces peeking out of the top windows. There is a money slot at the back of the roof. Prattware is a type of relief-moulded earthenware and this fairly rare piece is a delightful example. It would have been made for children to encourage saving!

It is in good, solid condition. There are some tight hairlines resulting from crazing on the side, back and base. No chips or restoration.
